We love books. Vivian has an entire shelf of board books that she is allowed to access whenever she wants. Sometimes she will grab one or two and give them a perusal, and sometimes she decides to unload the entirety of the shelf onto the floor. And walk on them. The book lover (and neat freak) in me cringes when this happens. We are working on being gentle with books, but it’s a learning process so my board books are a little worse for wear. However, it makes me happy that she loves to listen to stories and look at the pictures.
I could give you book recommendations all day long, but for the moment I would like to share just one of our favorite board books.
Psalms of Praise: A Movement Primer, by Danielle Hitchen

My sister-in-law bought this book for Vivian’s first birthday, and it quickly became one of her favorites. I love this book – not only because of the gorgeous and winsome watercolor illustrations, but because it is just scripture. Each page contains a verse with an action. It is sweet and simple, and the verses are short enough to hold her attention.

I love that she is soaking up scripture verses, as well as visually learning the actions associated with different words. It is never too early to start teaching our children good theology.

There are a number of books in the Baby Believer series; I currently own three of them. Psalms of Praise (movement primer), First Bible Basics (counting primer), and Holy Week (emotions primer). Holy Week joined our shelf this Easter, and I think it is a beautiful, easy-to-understand retelling of the Easter story for little ones.
